The day of the Superzooms

Fujifilm is announcing FinePix HS10 featuring a 30x optical zoom (24-720mm!) and Olympus is introducing the superzoom models SP-800UZ and SP-600UZ with 30x and 15x zoom lenses. All cameras feature HD video recording but the HS10 also features high speed movie recording at 1000 fps.

Don’t be surprised when you can’t expect too much optical quality from a Superzoom lens

Samsung NX10

Samsung has launched the NX10, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It features

  • a 14.6 MP APS-C sized CMOS sensor
  • 720p video with H.264 compression
  • eye level electronic viewfinder
  • 3″ OLED screen

Additionally Samsung now has a new 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 kit lens, a 55-200mm telezoom and a 30mm F2 pancake lens. It will be interesting to see reports how the camera is recognized in the photographic world…

First Leica S2 rolled out

According to Leica, the first Leica S2 are delivered to customers. The first one went to Jim Rakete, a renowned photographer  in Berlin.

Leica M9

Leica has announced the M9, a full frame rangefinder camera. It features a 24x36mm 18 Megapixel sensor developed by Kodak. With this sensor every Leica M-mount lens provides the originally intended field of view. Also new: an UV/IR cover-glass filter which means no need for lens filters, one stop improvement in noise.

Nikon S1000pj – the worlds first projector camera

Nikon has announced the worlds first projector camera, the Nikon S1000pj. A groundbreaking feature for a compact camera that will deliver the ultimate fun!
The small camera projects images up to 40 inches in size with a VGA resolution and at a maximum distance of 2 meters. But see yourself and watch the promo video from Nikon:
