February 9th, 2010Nikon has announced a new fast prime lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED – finally a new, fast prime for FX and DX format, long awaited by all available light fans:

It features all the bells and whistles: silent wave motor, Nano Crystal Coat, two ED and two aspherical lens elements. Nikon speaks of “pleasing blur characteristics” so we can expect a smooth bokeh.

February 9th, 2010Nikon has announced a new lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR. Pretty new for Nikon: a VR II (vibration reduction) in a wide angle lens.

February 11th, 2009Dpreview has an interesting interview with Nikon managers, mostly about the new AF-S 35/1.8 but also featuring a few interesting statements:
“It’s about price, size and weight. We wanted this to be a lens for the entry-level. If we’d tried to make an FX 35mm F1.4 it might cost €1400, rather than €200, and we wanted to make sure it was an affordable lens.”
“This is not the last lens announcement we’ll be making this year.“
