Sony A850 – full frame at a lower price

Sony introduces its second full-frame DSLR, the A850. It has many of the features of the full frame flagship A900 but at a lower price:

Shipping will start in September. Additionally in November Sony will bring a 28-75/2.8 SAM lens.

Nikon introduces the Nikon D300s as an upgrade to the sucessfull mid-level DSLR D300. The main differences:

720p HD video with autofocus while recording (a major improvement)
socket for external microphone
quiet drive mode (a long awaited feature!)
improved continuous shooting (7fps vs. 6fps)
Live View and Info buttons
own ‘OK’ button in multi controller
virtual horizon
SD card slot in addition to existing CF slot (probably a concession to upgraders)

All in all, not a major upgrade but a good one!

Nikon announced the new upper-entry-level DLSR Nikon D5000 featuring a small body, a 12 MP sensor, live view, 720p movies and a 180 degree tilt/swivel LCD.
