New EOS 7D firmware will bring major improvements

In August Canon will make a new firmware available for the EOS 7D that will bring major improvements:

  • Customizable auto ISO
  • Buffer of 25 raw pictures instead of 15
  • In-camera picture rating
  • Usage of GPS GP-E2 module
  • Control of audio recording level for video

With the exception of the questionable in-camera picture rating (who will use that anyway?) this is an excellent move and hopefully will set a new Standard for camera makers. Three years after the 7D’s launch it’s unusal but highly welcomed that a camera is updated in this way.
