The latest Rangefinder Magazine features an ad for a WPPI event (Wedding & Portrait Photographer International) in February 2009 sponsored by Nikon:
“Something BIG is coming to WPPI this year. Something SO BIG we can’t even tell you what it is. How BIG. BIG enough for WPPI and Nikon to reserver the world-class MGM Grand Arena! You can’t afford to miss what WPPI and Nikon have in store for February 2009.”
They also mention to be able to tell more next month…
Thom Hogan posted at Dpreview:
“I’m betting that we’ll between now and the end of the year we’ll see a consumer-priced DX camera, and perhaps two very high priced FX cameras.”
The consumer DX camera probably will be the replacement for the D80 but if he is right interesting times will be ahead…
