Canon EOS 6D

Canon announced the small and light EOS 6D featuring

  • 20.2 MP full-frame sensor
  • 11-point AF with a single cross-type sensor
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • ISO 100-25,600

New EOS 7D firmware will bring major improvements

In August Canon will make a new firmware available for the EOS 7D that will bring major improvements:

  • Customizable auto ISO
  • Buffer of 25 raw pictures instead of 15
  • In-camera picture rating
  • Usage of GPS GP-E2 module
  • Control of audio recording level for video

With the exception of the questionable in-camera picture rating (who will use that anyway?) this is an excellent move and hopefully will set a new Standard for camera makers. Three years after the 7D’s launch it’s unusal but highly welcomed that a camera is updated in this way.

Canon EOS 650D / Rebel T4i

  • Full HD video at 24/25/30 fps and stereo mics

Quite a nice update to its predecessor EOS 600D /Rebel T3i !

Additionally to the new cam there are also two new lenses for shooting video: a very small EF 40/2.8 pancake and  EF-S 18-135/3.5-5.6 IS, both featuring a motor for silent and fast focusing.

For $3500 not quite the Nikon D800 killer many Canon shooters expected.
